Binance Unveils Its New Blockchain Regional Hub In Georgia

Binance announced the opening of its brand-new blockchain hub in Georgia, as part of its strategy to expand globally, according to a March 27th blog post.

The exchange aims to promote crypto adoption by creating more job opportunities and attracting talent to the Georgian blockchain sector. Additionally, they seek to promote industry education.

The “Web3 outpost,” as Binance refers to the hub, will cooperate with the local public and private sectors to organize hackathon events and educational programs. Binance’s Georgia division employs 25 people, and the company expects to create “dozens more jobs” by the end of 2023.

Furthermore, one of the nations that are most friendly to cryptocurrencies has become Georgia. The Georgian government wants to establish its nation as a major worldwide crypto center.

Tbilisi, Georgia’s capital, is renowned for having over 100 Bitcoin ATMs where users convert crypto to cash and vice versa. Binance’s regional director, Vladimir Smerkis, rates Georgia’s current level of crypto adoption at 8 out of 10, stating that there are no serious challenges to further adoption.

Binance’s Milestones in Georgia

The exchange’s new regional hub in Georgia follows several milestones in its growth. Binance partnered with the local crypto payment gateway, CityPay, earlier this year. It also entered a collaboration with the Georgian Innovation and Technology Agency.

Additionally, Binance launched a charity initiative to support women-focused Web3 education. In November 2022, Changpeng Zhao, CEO of Binance, made his first trip to Georgia. CZ met with Irakli Garibashvili, the prime minister of Georgia, as well as members of the local business and crypto communities.

Vladimir Smerkis affirmed that the company already has a physical presence in the nation and that legal aspects for the hub’s opening are being worked out.

Moreover, Georgia is one of the most innovative nations in the area, according to Smerkis, who also called it a “serious leader” in adopting cryptocurrencies.

He also underlined how developers and enthusiasts are developing many independent blockchain projects and games in Georgia.

Georgia’s regulators understand that stringent restrictions in the crypto market can often lead to negative consequences. Therefore, the country is an excellent springboard for developing this direction, according to Smerkis.

However, Georgia’s ambition to become a significant global crypto hub makes it an ideal location for Binance to promote crypto adoption.
